“Photography isn’t about perfection — it’s about presence.”

I’m Robért Laurent, a photographer based in Newtown, Connecticut.

My work isn’t about chasing perfect poses, social media trends, or fleeting “Instagram moments.”

It’s not about flooding a gallery with hundreds images that were run through preset editing I purchased in bulk, or AI software that took care of the details.
It’s about intention — curating photographs that carry a feeling, a sense of time and soul that lingers long after the moment has passed.
My goal with every session is simple: to create images you don’t just see, but feel — the kind that grow more meaningful with every passing year.
Because that little rush we get from a like on social media? It fades... Along with the memory that those digital albums even exist.
But a photograph that reflects something true — that meets your eyes from a frame on the wall decades later...
that endures.

Those moments are what matter.

My Story
I’ve always been drawn to creation.
Music was my first language — piano, drums, bass, guitar — a lifelong urge to express, to explore rhythm and emotion.
After serving in the military, earning a degree in Finance, and spending fifteen years in hospitality, leading to a leadership position through COVID, something still felt missing. Then one day, my mother-in-law looked at a few photos I’d taken on a family trip and said, “You have a really good eye. Want to borrow a camera?
That invitation changed everything.
I picked up the camera — and with it, a new way to see. What began as curiosity became obsession: studying light, shadow, and human connection until craft turned to calling.
I never fired a frame in "Auto Mode"; I forced myself to engage with the every mechanism that crafted the images I produced. My editing approach was unrefined, but guided by instinct and feel as opposed to rigid "rules".
I never drew on outside inspiration, nor tried to measure myself against anyone else's standards, as I worked to develop my approach in the understanding that what I was doing was fundamentally different than the vast majority of the market these days.
An artist and creator first, a photographer second.

My Approach
I’ve taken far more “bad” photos than good ones — and I’m grateful for every one. They taught me that the magic isn’t in perfection; it’s in truth.
When you’re in front of my lens, I’m not chasing flawless symmetry or airbrushed polish. I’m watching for the real — the quiet gestures, the shared laughter, the moment you forget the camera is there.
Each session is less about performance and more about presence.
Because the best portraits don’t just capture how you look — they reveal who you are.

Why Do Prints Matter?
To me, a photograph isn’t finished until it’s printed.

Not as an upsell — but as the natural completion of the creative process; images deserve to be lived with, not lost to a feed.
That’s why I personally oversee every print and partner only with trusted professional labs. From luminous acrylic and metal pieces to framed fine-art portraits and heirloom keepsakes, I ensure every piece feels intentional, archival, and worthy of display.
Because when we surround ourselves with moments of joy, love, and peace — even the hardest days feel lighter.

Local Connection
After spending my first 20 years of life in New Milford, I have since called Waterbury, New Fairfield, Danbury, Brookfield, and Bethel home. For the last five years, I know have established myself in the community of Newtown, with strong connections to the surrounding areas and beyond.
My commitment to my community is unwavering. I believe strongly in grassroot growth and that giving back and building relationships is how we come together.
I have donated Fine Art pieces to charitable causes here in town and am available for other local charitable events as well!
Finally, if you are local, I encourage you to visit Sentimenti, located on Queen Street in Newtown. You will be able to see a few of my fine art prints first hand as well as those of other local artists.
